From the dawn of ancient times to the Age of Enlightenment, the evolution of Ancient architecture in Western architecture is chronologically reviewed, taking into account the intellectual, artistic, technological, political, and economic influences on architectural design. These topics are examined in light of prominent examples from today's society as well as the writings and ideologies of key proponents.
